Traction

Traction is a form of decompression therapy that relieves pressure on the spine and alleviates pain from joint and muscle spasms. It can also treat herniated discs, sciatica, degenerative disc disease, pinched nerves, and many other back and neck conditions. Traction is performed by skilled physical therapists and/or the use of mechanical units. With traction, you can find some much-needed relief and get back to comfortably living the life you want to live.

Mechanical Traction – The specialized treatment technique of traction using devices that work by stretching the spinal vertebrae and muscles. A very specific weight in pounds and a controlled duration of stretch is applied to the area which is being treated. This is commonly done on the Cervical and Lumbar spine.

Manual Traction – With manual traction, our physical therapist use their hands to stretch the spine or joint involved. This skill is an art form in applying the correct stretch at the correct angle with the correct pressure to alleviate pain in a joint. This can be applied to any joint in the human body.
